    please revise the edition

    • bharateeya says:

      Gokhaleji,

Could you please explain what you mean by revising the edition? In this blog, only those books are made available that are out of copyright (or if the author has consented to make available his/her books free on the internet).

Most of these books are from http://www.archive.org or DLI or some such sources. I heartily welcome any suggestion for improvement.

    • bharateeya says:

      Gokhale,

Somehow, I had missed your second comment. I saw it only when Anand’s reply to your comment came to me for moderation.
I hope you are aware that all books published recently are copy righted by the authors or publishers and cannot be legally made available free for download as e-books.

Nirukta in Marathi: I could not locate anywhere Nirukta with Marathi commentary. Pl let me know if you are interested in Sanskrit and English or Hindi, I will try to help you.

  4. Samskrt says:

There is a book by the name Kuvalayananda – which is a Sanskrit commentary on Chandraloka, containing about 100 Alankaras. You could download an English translation of the memorial verses of Kuvalayananda from the following site_http://www.archive.org/details/kuvalayanandakar00apyarich

    Response to Parshuram Gokhale:

    1. Importance of “free” Online Sanskrit Dictionary:
Sanskrit Dictionary is mainly needed by people who fall in 2 categories. Category 1: People who are studying Sanskrit and Category 2: people who get stuck at a specific word for their purpose. For people in Category 1 – it is a chance 1 in million that they encounter exactly the word that was not there in edition prior to 2009 and is there in edition 2009. So if you are in this first category, I will be curious to know the word you are stuck at. If you are in Category 2, it is again a chance in a million that you do not have access to 2009 edition of this dictionary. Hence again would like to know the word you are stuck at.

Mr. Gokhale, we call can appreciate that you are aware of the latest edition of this dictionary published in 2009. However, if you have noticed, the dictionary available here is scanned digitally and been maintained by archive.org. This organization is dedicated to keep digitally scanned copies of rare and old books. Their objective is not to make books available freely. They do it because, old printed books wear and tear and fade away even if not used at all. The reason I am writing this is to make you aware of the purpose. Also note that this dictionary is more than 1000 pages. The effort it takes to scan such a dictionary will be quite big. Hence I am surprised to see that you still demanded the latest edition as if this site is obliged to provide the latest edition to everyone on the very next day of its publication. I hope my message is clear.

    regards,

    Anand

It’ll be good to get a copy of Apte’s Sanskrit-English Students Dictionary that hasn’t had the mishap that befell the printed copy I got a few years ago, where the text ran off the edge of the page, and some words were unreadable. Is Apte’s English-Sankrit Students Dictionary also available? Many thanks to you for this generosity.
